Curated by Maggie Villegas, the Beautiful Walls for Baltimore exhibition explored the 40+ year history of the Baltimore Mural Program and the hundreds of artists who shaped it. The exhibit encompassed all three galleries of School 33 Art Center and comprised of artifacts, video and audio interviews, indoor mural installations, photographs, and renderings collected over 2 years of research. Featured artists included Jessie Unterhalter and Katey Truhn, Megan Lewis, Gary Mullen, Ernest Shaw Jr, Khoran Lee, Rodney Cook, as well as documentation of works by James Voshell, Pontella Mason, Monique Goss, Tom Miller, and Dr. Bob Hieronimus.
Beautiful Walls for Baltimore was named “Best History Lesson” by Baltimore City Paper in 2016. The project is currently in its second phase: the development of an online interactive website and catalogue.
